Il programma VERTIGO, presentato nel tardo pomeriggio di venerdì, è risultato affollato … non solo per la folla ma anche per il materiale presentato. L’editore Vertigo Karen Berger ha presieduto la cerimonia, coadiuvata da un vero All-star team di autori Vertigo, inclusi Brian Azzarello, Jason Aaron, Brian Wood, Mike Carey, Mark Buckingham, Matt Wagner, John Whalen, Bill Willingham, Matthew Sturges, David Lapham, Steven Seagle, Pia Guerra, Ronald Wimberly, Joshua Dysart, Simon Oliver e altri.

Northlanders, scritto da Brian Wood, è stato il primo fumetto presentato ed è stato definito da Berger una “storia di vichinghi alla moda”. Quando imbeccato sul fumetto, Wood scherza, “Ho perso circa un ora per parlarne sul mio programma, se volete saperne qualcosa è lì che dovete andare a cercare” e ancora “Questo sembra un punto di partenza per me, e forse anche per la Vertigo, ma non lo è. E' il suo genere di storia nonostante vada a pescare in un luogo 1000 anni nel passato.

Poi è il turno dell’originale graphic novel Hellblazer: Pandemonium, che segna il ritorno dello scrittore Jamie Delano al personaggio. La storia porta John Constantine in Iraq, e Berger descrive il volume come “una storia politicamente potente”

Vengono poi mostrati una gran quantità  di progetti in lavorazione che arriveranno “fast and furious”: Hellblazer, Army@Love, Scalped, Crossing Midnight e Faker.

Matt Wagner discute del nuovo Madame Xandu, dicendo che è “Un progetto per lui insolito in quanto mi è stato suggerito” Spiega poi che Bob Schreck lo volle affiancare per molto tempo con l’autore di Xanadu Amy Hedley, e che questa è “la storia più femminile che ho mai raccontato”
Spiegherà  le relazioni del personaggio del titolo con lo straniero fantasma e il significato del suo nome.
Il progetto è in fase di sviluppo, ma Wagner dice che metterà  la propria firma ai primi 10 numeri ( sebbene Berger gli abbia già  proposto una permanenza più lunga)

Berger parla anche di The Vinyl Underground di Si Spencer, Simon Gane e Cameron Stewart, definendolo “un altro buon prodotto Vertigo sull’Inghilterra”

Un-Men, basato sul personaggio tratto dal vecchio Swamp Thing, viene presentato dallo scrittore della serie John Whalen che dice di essere stato felice delle sua presenza e che “ha sempre desiderato vedere molti di quei ragazzi.”
Berger definisce il fumetto come un “freak noir” che gli ricorda Geek love di Katherine Dunn.

Seguono una rapida sequenza di immagini tratte da Testament, American Virgin, 100 Bullets, Loveless, Fables e Jack of Fables … gli ultimi sono quelli che riscuotono i maggiori applausi della folla.

Bill Willingham e Matthew Sturges parlano del nuovo House of Mystery.

L’imminente fine di Y: The Last Man viene menzionata brevemente.

Viene annunciato The Unknown Soldier di Joshua Dysart, un progetto ispirato da un suo viaggio di ricerca in Uganda.

David Lapham parla brevemente della sua recente produzione: Silverfish una graphic novel che definisce “un hichcockiano, fumetto horror adolescenziale”

Ronald Wimberly parla di Sentences, l’autobiografica graphic novel del rapper Percy Carey(MF Grimm), che uscirà  in settembre. Wimberly dice che era già  un fan della musica di MF Grimm prima del progetto.

Il giornalista G. Willow parla dell’annunciato Cairo, sua prima incursione del mondo delle graphic novels.

The Alcoholic e Incognegro vengono menzionate brevemente.

Berger plugged the new Stardust hardcover, and made mentioned of the movie based on the work opening next week. She also talked about Absolute Sandman Vol. 2, and asked the crowd who had the first one. Not a lot of people raised their hands, prompting her to make the earnest comment 'I know it's expensive, but if you've got the money, it's really worth it.'

Berger mostra la nuova edizione HC di Stardust e annuncia l’inizio delle riprese del film basato su questa opera, previsto per la prossima settimana.
Parla anche di Absolute Sandman Vol. 2, e cerca nella folla chi ha preso il primo.
Non molte persone alza le proprie mani, producendo il commento “ So che è molto costoso, ma se avete i soldi, è un opera che li vale”

Dysart poi parla di Greendale, il suo adattamento del’omonimo concept album di Neil Young del 2003, parlandone come di “una miscela di Vertigo e del senso estetico mio e di Neil Young”

Il breve domanda & risposta che segue la presentazione include Lapham che parla di eventuali altri capitoli di Stray Bullets ( richiesto, anche se non un titolo Vertigo) e un fan che chiede quale titolo ha avuto la “raccapricciante” posta dei Fan ( Berger non risponde veramente, ma dice che Preacher e Hellblazer hanno ricevuto, non così sorprendentemente, accuse d’essere contro la religione.). Quando gli è stato chiesto quali personaggi di non-pubblico dominio avrebbe voluto inserire in Fables, Willingham ha chiuso la presentazione dicendo “vorrei metterci un po’ di vichinghi alla moda”

DAY 01:
- DC Group Therapy panel
The subject of Doom Patrol was then brought up, and DiDio said that finding a place in the DCU for the idiosyncratic team was on his to-do list, but that it remains a question of how to do it and what creators will be involved.
Another fan posited that the numerous attempts to revamp and reboot the Legion of Super-Heroes were a necessary evil [...] DiDio responded by saying that his philosophy is to portray characters as people remember them best, explaining that from the most pedestrian fan to the most hardcore fanboy, Supergirl is Superman's cousin, and thus so she is in the DC Universe.
Berganza [...] announced that following Alan Burnett's run, “Batman Confidential” writer Michael Green would take over the “Superman/Batman” title.

DiDio began by announcing that the creative team of "Final Crisis" is Grant Morrison and JG Jones. "Final Crisis" will be seven oversized monthly issues. [...] "I can't top what Geoff did in Infinite Crisis," Morrison said before revealing that Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth, would be on the last page of "Final Crisis" and Anthro, the First Boy, would be on the first.
Bill Willingham then discussed his new miniseries, "Salvation Row," which is based on the idea that the world is tired of villains always escaping from Arkham Asylum and various prisons. [...] The Joker will be appearing in "Salvation Row".
The Kubert bros will be doing more work in DCU.
Morrison as written a sequel to "Seaguy."
Plans for the year 2010, DC's 75th anniversary? Yes.
The Tangent Universe is coming back.
There will be more colors besides green and yellow in the Green Lantern stories.

DAY 02:
- DC New World Order panel
Krypto will reappear in Action Comics in two weeks, as will the Calculator. [...] Three versions of the Legion are to appear in this series.
Kurt Busiek confirmed that after finishing the "Camelot Falls" storyline, the next story arc is called "The Third Kryptonian."
Greg Rucka will be writing "Crime Bible: The Five Books of Blood," which (in Rucka's words), "explains why people in the DCU should be very afraid of people who follow this perverted religion. We follow Renee Montoya, the Question, as she tries to foil the plot. [...]".
Dan Jurgens will write January's "Tangent Global Decree," which revisits the Tangent Universe on its tenth anniversary, seeing what ten years have done to the characters and the world.
Rucka revealed that "Checkmate" #18-20 will be a storyline called "The Fall of The Wall," which will heavily feature the Suicide Squad.
Judd Winick and Ian Churchill will be bringing us "Teen Titans East," a special team formed by Cyborg with some familiar faces (like Hawk and Dove, Power Boy and Vulcan) and many harder to decipher.
From Gotham City, the year's end will see a big Batman crossover through the Dark Knight Detective's comics.
Random notes included the fact that the new Judomaster will be in "JSA" #12, Waverider may be seen again in the pages of "Booster Gold," that there's a CSA in both the anti-matter universe and on Earth 3 (the former is Grant Morrison's rendition, the latter is a "Golden Age" "Crime Society"), there's a Green Arrow/Black Canary series coming out, "Countdown" will address Firestorm's time on Apokolips, that Geoff Johns wants to do a book with the Flash rogues, Superboy Prime will be getting a new name, Jann Jones has been pushing for an Ambush Bug series and that a new team will keep "The Spirit" going after Darwyn Cooke leaves.

DAY 03:
- DC Big Guns panel
A fan asked about Trickster and Piper, who in "Countdown" seemed to imply that they weren't directly involved with Bart Allen's death, but then read "Flash" and saw them doing the dirty work. Dini simply apologized, saying that sometimes information didn't flow properly within the company [...].
Verheiden is working on the Teen Titans movie, and said, "I'm probably going more for the Wolfman/Perez version. They've asked me not to identify the team we're using, but Nightwing is a part of it.
"Right away we're gonna find out who tried to kill diana on the night of her birth," Simone said [about Wonder Woman], "and I'm gonna establish that the lasso is one of the most dangerous weapons in the DCU. By the end of the year, everyone's gonna know who Wonder Woman is, what she's about. [...]".
When a fan asked a philosophical question about the central characters of the DCU based on a Geoff Johns quote ("Superman hovers above us, Batman hides from us, Wonder Woman preaches to us, and Flash runs along side us"), Kurt Busiek mused on the importance of these characters. "They're the nucleus, everything that happens revolves around them," the writer said. "With characters like the Metal Men, you can have them or not, it's a matter of preference, but they really work best together, they're the core of the Justice League.
Morrison gave some tidbits about "Final Crisis." "Everyone's in it. It's like Lord of the Rings for the DC Universe," Morrison said. He also noted that Ralph and Sue Dibny, Ghost Detectives will return in its pages.
Johns revealed that a storyline called "Alpha Lanterns" will follow the Sinestro War, Paul Dini said we can expect "Tweedledum and Tweedledee, gang bosses of Gotham," and Busiek said his Superman work will include "a bottle city ... not the one you think."
Random data included the fact that there will be a Billy Batson Captain Marvel on Earth 5, a new series featuring Hawkman and Hawkgirl in 2008, that the rights are tied up for Plastic Man precluding an animated series despite interest at Warner Brothers Animation, that there really is motion on a return for Ambush Bug, the reason for Black Adam regaining his powers will be explained in an upcoming mini series and that Mister Whisper will likely not be seen again ("He was taken away by the devil, so to see him you'll have to go to hell," Morrison said).

- Darwyn Cooke on leaving "The Spirit"
The biggest announcement was the news that Cooke's run on “Will Eisner's The Spirit” would be ending after issue #12. “I was committed for two years,” Cooke said, “but we're going into the second year and J is not going to be available to work on the book, and that's like cutting off my arms and asking me to still do the job. There were some editorial shuffles as well and I looked at the book and said, ‘I can't do this halfway and I can't do it if there's the risk of doing a less than perfect job, it is Will Eisner's Spirit and I just didn't feel I had the tools for the second year. Without the support of the team we've got I just can't see us maintaining the quality.”
Cooke did reassure the audience that “The Spirit” would be continuing with a different creative team, though he didn't know who it would be.
